Tullyallen mourns the passing of The Very Rev. P. J. O'Kelly who departed this life on Saturday 27th December 2008, in hospital in Limerick after a short illness. He was in his 93rd year. As an ongoing tribute to him we invite you to share your stories and memories of Fr. Kelly here. He was the choir master of St. Peter's male voice choir between 1939 - 1947. He was a fan of all things technical. A lover of ham radio he embraced the birth of the information age and was a keen skyper, if the computer beeped at 11 pm you could expect it would be himself appearing on your screen.

Mellifont Parish is centered around the village of Tullyallen, just outside Drogheda in Co. Louth. The village has grown enormously over the past few years, due in no small part to it's proximity to the M1 motorway giving it easy access to Dublin. The ruins of Mellifont abbey are located nearby and are dated back to 1142. |
